After wowing the international design glitterati
and press at the T.A.G. Team (Ten Avante Garde) exhibition in Milan during
the Salone del mobile in April the show now travels to new York during
the ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair).
This year's TAG Team designers are hand selected by David
Shearer of
Totem Design and *Surface magazine's creative directors to form a cross-section
of newly influential
American indusrtial designers. The inductees, the majority of which are making
their international debut, include Bi-Product, Giovanni Pagnotta, 521
Design,
Christopher Streng, Daniel Streng, Fuse
Project, Blank & Cables, Elizabeth
Paige Smith, and Tom Ghilarducci.
Accompanying the TAG Team presentation is acclaimed comtemporary designer
Karim Rashid. Rashid joins
the project in 2001 as lead exhibitoy and will unviel "Surface
Scape" - a visionary lounge environment produced by Edra expressly for the
events. The event will launchwith a pre-ICFF opening party at Pier 59 (invitation
only) on Friday May 18th. The exhibit will be open for public viewing one day
only - Saturday may 19th.
