UT's Blissful Tables at ICFF
UT, a Soho-based architectural practice,
has flowed onto the fast design scene with lush furniture and
luminous interiors, providing fresh inspiration for more relaxing
environments, and in the process becoming the hottest designer
of spas for the stiff-shouldered.
Totem, New York's leading showcase for contemporary design
and frontrunner in the so-called American Design Challenge, is
proud to present prototypes of UT's new series of tables - the Oseries -
at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF).
Patented this month, The Oseries consists of three tables: the lounge, the
high-side, and the low-side. Raised off the floor on 5/8" rubber
bumpers, the tables are finished with high-gloss polyester lacquer and are
currently available in Lime, Vanilla, Sorbet, Turquoise, Hot-Pink and Tangerine.
UT's tectonically clear furniture has by critics been said to be "Kubrickan",
referring to the way its austere design manages to find relief in subtle, cheerful
ways.
The two-year-old company is best known for its recently completed commercial
and residential projects for Bliss Spa and its owners. Co-founders Clarissa
Richardson and Heidar Sadeki have introduced a new sophistication
to interior design - and spas in particular - by using unexpected finishes
for traditional materials like unpolished limestone, mixed with unconventional
elements from bubble wrap of insulation, or red rubber for that extra sex appeal
- so sexy, in fact, that Versace recently shot an advertising campaign in a
UT space.
