Totem
makes legendary Artifort collection available at International
Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), Jacob Javits Center
At the beginning of the '60s - as Warhol introduced pop art and
Bardot interpreted sexual expression - Pierre Paulin designed for
Artifort the non-conformist chairs that changed the look of our
interiors. It was the classic collection of furniture that baby
boomers first crawled around, and has now - after an awakening
in consumer interest - been reintroduced by Totem, New York's
leading showcase for contemporary furniture and object design.
Visitors at the ICFF next week can get a sneak peek of the organic,
living forms with expressive names such as Tulip, Tongue, Mushroom
and Orange Slice.
Paulin introduced a new construction method using a foamed metal frame covered
with stretch covers, allowing the forms to be rounded and the sculpting of
the furniture to follow the lines of the human body. The Artifort chairs combine
a sleek look with seating comfort. Every single Artifort product is manufactured
by hand.
The tight-but-playful
design of the Artifort collection is in perfect sync with the
modest interior thats in style today.
