Totem is pleased to announce the US launch of the MEMO by Ron Arad and Inflate Design Studio.

Debuting to critical acclaim last month in Milan, the Memo Chair will be represented by Ron Arad and Nick Crosby (from Inflate) at Totem Saturday, May 15, 1999 from 5-7 PM.

Inflate reverses the direction of airflow, revisiting Ron Arad's 80's transformer deflatable chair. Within seconds the Memo can transform itself from a soft bean bag to hard seat, Memo rising the sitter's imprint. Not only can this process be repeated infinitely, but also the softness or hardness can be controlled by sucking the air out, letting the air in or even inflating the Memo.

The Memos can be sculpted to different shapes for different seating needs, Sucking the air out can be done by a small quiet pump, or by a household vacuum cleaner. The Memo floats beautifully and supports the sitter on water. (Big Memos can even be shaped and used as paddling pools.)

The standard Memos will be available at Totem in September 1999 starting at $350 retail. Inflate will also produce the Memos to customer's choice of size, shape, fabrics and a variety of covers.

This presentation is a milestone for both Totem and Inflate in their quest to provide affordable, innovative designs.
