Internazionale del Mobile in Milan
April 13 - 18, 2005
This year's annual Salone del Mobile in Milan, Italy evoked a much
more positive and laid-back mood than years past. This could be
due to the fact that the weather was actually pretty nice or that
the excitement seems to have returned to the world of design.

Stockholm
Furniture Fair
February 9 - 13, 2005
Once
a year, hundreds of exhibitors (just over 800) and thousands
of visitors (almost 40,000) descend upon Stockholm's impressive
International Fairs Center to show and see the best design the
land of the Vikings has to offer. From the home of IKEA, expect
nothing less than pioneering designs.

Shearer, founder of Totem Design Group announces Tribeca store
closing.
Due
to the negative impact on economic conditions caused in part
by the 9/11 disaster, Totem will close it's flagship store located
at 71 Franklin Street in Tribeca as of December 31,2003.

Loft
Cube: The compact portable house for modern nomads.
It seems
like a spaceship on top of a building. These mobile living units,
placed on flat roofs by helicopters or cranes and connected to the
building's utilities, offer additional living space in big cities.
Utopian loftcube living envisages self-contained rooftop communities,
a new way of life with a view and privacy, tranquillity and freedom
compared to the condensed living spaces and speeded-up everyday metropolitan
existence.

Hot Design in the Desert
The Palm
Springs Desert Museum has just pulled off an extremely ambitious
exhibition of architecture and design - actually four exhibitions
in one. Looking at the architectural history past and present of
Palm Springs and as well the greater metropolitan Los Angeles area
with a four part show featuring Marmol and Radziner, Charles
Hollis Jones, E. Stewart Williams, and Juluis
Shulman.
